I know exactly what you mean about feeling like all you do is work. People just have this image in their head of California and everything that it offers, like the commercial. Yeah its a great destination for vacation, but what about the actual residents who live and work here? We dont just call in sick to go surfing, or skip school to attend some movie premier in Hollywood. In all the years i've lived here (my whole life) i've never even seen one famous person! But i think this is the stigma that surrounds anyone who lives in a touristy location. Think of people that live in Hawaii, or Paris, or even New York. Our ideas of what it is like there or what we experience when we visit is probably so far from reality for the residents.

it is an interesting idea, it could be the dream of a false luxury life in California. There are many commercials that falsly advertise California and other states, in order to get people to come and spend their money. the dream of a luxurious life can be achieved in California, but only with money. Many people come to California, in search of that dream, of not working hard and enjoying themselves. But those people are only met with lies, having to work two jobs at a time in order to support yourself, and many other things that do not fall under the dream of a luxury life. the commercial that portrays California as a luxury heaven is only true so the rich and famouse, people who can afford to spend millions of dollars on pointless entertainment.
