I was browsing through the channels last night, when I first found out about the Brandy Norwood tragic situation. I was indeed shocked to hear that she faces charges of vehicular manslaughter. Brandy, 27, apparently was driving on Interstate 405 on December 30 when traffic slowed down and her vehicle struck the back of a Honda that was driven by Awatef Aboudihal, 38.
Many celebrities feel that because they are famous they can pay their way out. The big controversy is that there was a lost life and someone needs to be accountable for it. This is were the rule of law needs to be enforced. If it would have been a regular person they would probably not give it a second thought and charged the person with manslaughter. I know that this case is a tough one because the person being charged is a person who is known and well like by America.
Brandy was not driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. She was also not on her phone when the accident occurred. I think that her not slowing down is an act of negligence. She was driving at the speed of 110 km/h when she collided with the car in front of her. It probably would not be such a big deal if there wasn't a lost life involved.
People who rear end other vehicles are often considered "at fault" by the law. Legally, it means they did not leave enough space in front of them to stop their vehicle in time. Feel sorry for Brandy, but someone died and she appears to be responsible. Sometimes saying sorry is not enough to remedy the pain of a lost one.
Poor Brandy..... Is that really where our focus should be? I was shocked when I heard on the news about the plight of this poor family, and even more shocked that the focus seemed to be poor Brandy. I heard that the family wants to sue her for $50 Million!!!!! That's insane, I will not deny, yes I will agree that the family is taking advantage of the fact that she's a celebrity, however, my question is, did she get arrested? And is she facing any possible jail time? Perhaps she's playing the celebrity card herself. If it were a "normal" person you know damn well that they would be in a hell of a lot more trouble, to the point that they would probably rather get sued for $50,000,000. From what I've heard through the grapevine is that everyone seems to be mad at the family for trying to take advantage of a celebrity, to me that's absolute crap!!!!! Yes, $50 mill is a lot of money, but it's just money!! Money comes and goes, and unfortunately we are forced to depend, and we couldn't live w out it, however money is a materialistic thing and I can't believe that in a situation like this, people would be more concerned about the money involved than the loss of a life.

Thank you for stating the facts in the Brandy Norwood case. I had heard about it, but not all the facts. I however do hold mixed feelings about it. She was not on drugs, she had not been under the influence of alcohol, and she was not talking on her cell phone. She was speeding, as most of us do. Unfortunately she was unaware of the current situation in front of her and was unable to stop in time. A innocent woman lost her life and that is tragic, but was it really Brandy's fault? I truely believe in people taking responsibility for their actions but i also think that people think that since she's involved that the other family is intitled to more money, and that is wrong. How much should someone suffer when involved in an accident? She has a family too and her child will be affected by all of this. Should some kind of reprimand be handed down? Yes, should she ultimately lose her freedom over something she may truely have had no control over? In my opinion, no.
