So... here I am sitting at my computer for the last THREE hours trying to figure out what I did wrong with my wirless connection. After kicking my toe on my desk, screaming at my laptop, and calling every tech support I could, what happened?!? It just came on. Sometimes I hate technology. I love my laptop because of the accessability it gives me, but please, do we really need all this technology. Because of the painstaking trouble I had tonight, I decided this blog should be on technology and the fast paced world California is. I work in the biotech field, and to find a job outside of California working in a lab like mine is very hard to find. But if it weren't for our wonderful computers and machines, biotech would be going nowhere. I love working in an industry that can help save someone's life or even prevent illness for someone. So although I get angry at my little laptop, I could not be more thankful for the technology that is coming out today. I guess that with everything, you must accept the bad. But thankfully we have places like Saulk Institue, a leading cancer research facility as well as other research labs using all of our new gadgets to try out stem cell research and so forth. So although my toe now hurts, I can be thankful to go into work tomorrow, turn on a machine and know if it wasn't for technology, I would be out of a job!! Have a good night everyone!
Maura, you are hilarious! I kick, yell, and SCREAM at my laptop all the time. It does this thing ALL the time where all of a sudden it just logs me off; logs me off the internet, logs me off of messenger. Or just freezes for no reason. This is my philosophy: computers are not human... humans created computers, therefore humans = intelligence, not the artificial kind that these dang computers have, LOL! It's so true that without the advances in technology, businesses would not be booming. Hey, you got a job, I got a job... anyone else got a job?! And then there's this whole thing: check this out... you buy some kind of techie gadget, then tomorrow it's practically obsolete! Always something better, something newer and more improved. I finally gave up on trying to keep up and just settling with what I have. If it ain't broke, don't fix it <-- isn't that how the saying goes?! I'm a computer geek... always have been and always will be. So I can truly appreciate technology today, even if I feel like throwing my laptop across the room sometimes! And in regards to cancer research, which I'm very fond of because I've been going through cancer since 2002. And I'm all for research leading towards a cure or something closer to a cure!
